Who we are
HostorAI (hostorai.com) is a dinner-party and event planning tool. For the purposes of UK GDPR, the data controller is HostorAI, reachable at info@hostorai.com.
What we collect and why
Email address — waitlist sign-up
When you join our early-access list we store your email address so we can send you an invitation when the product launches. Legal basis: consent (you submitted the form).
Email address — event invitations
When a host uses our "Send Invite" feature, the recipient's email address is passed to our email provider (Resend) solely to deliver that single invitation. We do not retain it afterwards. Legal basis: legitimate interest of the host in notifying their guests.
Event planning data
Guest counts, menu choices, drink preferences, and dietary requirements you enter are stored in your browser session and — if you share an event link — in an encoded URL. We do not store this data on our servers beyond what is needed to serve the page.
Cookies
Analytics — PostHog
With your consent, we use PostHog to understand how visitors use HostorAI (pages viewed, features used). This sets a cookie and uses local storage to recognise you across visits. Legal basis: consent, requested via the cookie banner shown on your first visit. You can decline, and no analytics cookie is set.
Analytics — Google Analytics (GA4)
With your consent, we also use Google Analyticsto measure traffic and campaign performance. This sets Google's own cookies (e.g. _ga) in your browser. Legal basis: consent, requested via the same cookie banner. You can decline, and no Google Analytics cookie is set.
Strictly necessary — local storage
We store your cookie-consent choice, and the event you're planning (guest count, menu, drinks), in your browser's local storage so the app works and remembers your progress. This does not require consent as it is essential to the service.
Third parties
We use Resend (resend.com) to deliver email. Your email address is transmitted to Resend for delivery only and is subject to Resend's privacy policy. With your consent (see Cookies, above), we also use PostHog and Google Analytics for product and traffic analytics, subject to PostHog's privacy policy and Google's privacy policy respectively. We do not sell your data.
How long we keep your data
Waitlist email addresses are kept until the early-access programme ends or until you ask us to delete yours — whichever comes first. We will not contact you for any purpose unrelated to HostorAI.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data ('right to be forgotten')
- Restrict or object to processing
- Withdraw consent at any time
To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@hostorai.com with the subject line "Privacy request". We will respond within 30 days.
Supervisory authority
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) — the UK's data protection regulator.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.
